Takedown Page 12
“Well, I’m no Leena or Vi, but it sure was nice to tell that–that– ” Kiki was still Kiki, and as much as she didn’t like the woman it was hard to talk down about her.
“Bimbo!” Leena helped her out.
They all had a good laugh at the ridiculous word. The hard smile pulling at her cheeks hurt, but Kiki was loving the support. It was the cinnamon whiskey that had her stomach coiling. She tried following it with a couple of drinks from her cocktail, but it was burned on to her tongue.
“Not for you?” Vi asked.
“No. I think I’ll stick with vodka,” Kiki answered.
“A woman after my own heart,” Leena cooed.
“Enough about me. Vi, how’s everything going for the wedding? Anything we can help with?” Kiki asked, pulling the attention away from herself.
“Everything is going great. Really. Almost too good.” Vi gave a glowing smile that made Kiki’s heart ache.
“The only thing that really came up is that fuckin’ Wade asked for extra invites last minute, and I couldn’t say no.” Vi shook her head.
“Invites for who?” Kiki was curious.
She hadn’t taken much interest in the guest list. Not knowing many of Vi’s friends, it didn’t make sense to inquire too much. She knew most of the gym was going to be there, and other than the bridesmaids she’d met, that was about it.
“No one special, just a few of his buddies that he’s been friends with since middle school. I probably should have invited them in the first place. I’ve known them forever too.” Vi shrugged.
“Parker and Landon?” Kiki asked.
“No,” Leena interrupted, appalled. “Vi, you’re not allowing Dumb and Dumber to come to the wedding, are you?”
“I’m trying to get back on Wade’s good side. He’s been pretty pissed off at me, and rightfully so.” Vi gave a half-smile.
Kiki didn’t know what Wade and Vi were feuding about, but with all the changes going on, she could imagine.
“So, you’ve met them, Kiki?” Vi asked. “They aren’t that bad, Leena. Plus, they’re like family to Wade. Weddings are about family. How could I say no?”
It was true, she’d seen it with her own eyes. What little family Vi had left she kept as close as possible. Not that Wade had shared the fact that his friends were like brothers to him, that they had been there for him all those years. As much as he’d shared with Kiki over their time together there were things he still refused to open up about. While she wasn’t excited to hear about the heartbreak of losing his parents, it was a part of who he was, the man he had become, and she wanted to know every part of him. Even if it was the smallest detail that he was willing to share. But she wanted him to do it on his terms, because he wanted to, not because she forced him.
Leena’s phone rang, pulling Kiki from her overanalyzing thoughts. When she answered with a big smile and spoke in hushed Russian words, it was obvious Gav was calling to check up on her. Quickly hanging up the phone, she threw back the rest of her lemon drop martini.
“I gotta go, girls. Let’s get the check.” Leena motioned to the waiter to bring the bill.
“What? Who are you, and what have you done with Leena the man-eater? Never have I expected to see you rush off for a man when he called,” Kiki teased.
Over the last couple of months Leena had become sort of a role model, life coach even. She and Vi had helped Kiki break out of her quiet shell without demanding that she change who she was. Before Leena had met her boyfriend Gav she had quite the reputation of being a wild woman. She was still outspoken and a ball buster, but these days she had a hint of domestication. And Vi still had her hot temper and demanding ways, but Kiki enjoyed seeing the softer side of them. It made her feel less of an outsider, as she was mostly a soft-sided person.
“You’d go racing home too if you knew all the wonderful, dirty things he does to me. And oh God, when he starts talking dirty in Russian, I just lose it,” Leena gushed.
“That’s enough.” Kiki held up her hand like it would block the words from spilling over the table. She still wasn’t comfortable talking about sex so publicly and vulgar.
Vi shook her head, while Leena grinned at her. They cashed out their tab and Kiki sent Wade a text before they headed to their cars. With quick goodbyes Kiki was swiftly on her way to see the man who made her swoon.
Chapter 16
Wade beat Kiki to her apartment and was leaning against the door when she came down the hall. His hair looked disheveled and the smile on his face seemed forced. Even so, he was still a gorgeous man. One who had pushed her to limits she didn’t know she could break through.
But now the tone of the earlier conversation was making a comeback. He’d wanted to ‘swing’ by. It was barely less of a hit than ‘we need to talk’. She wasn’t going to bring it up, she was just going to go with being her normal self, she didn’t need to project any weirdness she might be feeling. Maybe it was something good he wanted to talk about? Yeah, right.
“Hey,” Kiki greeted him, kissing him on the cheek before unlocking the door and gesturing for him to come inside the apartment.
Without replying, Wade followed her inside, shutting the door behind him. Kiki was beginning to get nervous. He wasn’t acting like his normal buoyant self. Although he hadn’t come out and said it, she could tell by the tone of the call earlier that he must have heard what happened. She was going to set the record straight before this got out of hand. Kiki rustled around the kitchen; after the drinks she had with the girls, she was in need of a glass of water.
“Can I get you anything to drink?” she asked.
“No thanks,” Wade said, pacing around the small living room.
Kiki was done beating around the bush. She’d wanted him to start the conversation, but it didn’t look like that was going to happen. And hopefully this would give her a chance to defend her point.
“Listen, Jessica and I sort of got into it at the gym today. She was being super catty toward me, and I couldn’t take it. I kind of told her to back off. Not kind of, I told her to stay away.” Kiki blushed.
“Vi actually called and told me. I love my sister, and she cares about you.”
“Are you upset?” Kiki asked, moving out of the kitchen to face him. “You don’t seem like yourself.”
“Vi’s worried that I’m going to break you. I’m not great at relationships. I’ve done things that I should be ashamed of, but I’m not. They all served a purpose, but hurting you wouldn’t. I don’t want to do that. I think that we should br–”
“No,” Kiki said sternly, putting her hand up, silencing him. “Wade, you’re not breaking up with me, so you can just forget that nonsense.”
She was happy when he had the decency to look embarrassed.
“I love Vi, really,” Kiki continued, “but she doesn’t know about us. And who is she to say what may or may not happen? If this is the worst thing that’s going on between us, I think we are doing just fine. Let’s just enjoy what we have in the now. What’s meant to be will be.”
“But Kiki…” He tried again.
“No. I mean it. You don’t get to end this, not now.”
Maybe she sounded desperate, but if he was really going to break-up with her he was going to have to have a far better reason than that. It was clear he was scared about the direction they were headed. She knew relationships hadn’t been a big thing for him, but they hadn’t been easy for her either. They were going to figure this out together.
The smile that spread across his face was like sunshine in her dark apartment.
“Am I still welcome to ‘swing by’ for the night?” Wade asked, wrapping his arms around her waist.
That was more like it. He’d come back to her.
“You always were.”
“Shall we consider this make-up sex?” Wade winked.
Kiki cocked her head to the side, biting her bottom lip. There he was...Wade. “I guess this is the biggest fight we’ve had. It would be disrespectful not to.
”
Kiki squealed when Wade swooped her up in his arms, planting a hard kiss on her lips before carrying her to the bedroom. This was shaping up to be a pretty amazing day, maybe one of the best days ever.
When Wade set Kiki down he placed his hands gently on her face, and the way his eyes stared so deeply into her own made her soul quake. She’d fallen in love with this complicated man, and right now she was sure that this look said more than words ever could.
Pushing up on her toes, Kiki accepted the sensual kiss he placed on her willing lips as his hands made their way through her hair. Wade pulled back from the embrace first, before wrapping Kiki up in his arms. She nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck, placing kisses on his soft skin. She wanted to be close to him, her body touching him at every point, and now that she’d been set down in the bedroom she had the opportunity to do so.
Kiki placed her hands under his shirt, gliding them up, taking his shirt with her, and Wade helped her slip the shirt off the rest of the way. She wrapped her arms around his warm skin, scratching her fingers down his back, pulling him hard against her, as she placed kisses on his chest.
Wade’s hands made their way down her back, finding the zipper on her skirt, slowly unzipping it one tooth at a time. A whoosh of cool air hit her hot thighs as the skirt dropped to the floor. His strong hands reached down, squeezing her bottom, grinding her hips against his body.
When Wade hoisted her up she instinctively wrapped her legs around him as he walked them toward the bed. She’d expected him to lay her down, to crawl on top of her, but to her surprise that didn’t happen. He sat down on the bed, her legs still wrapped around him. Wade pushed his hands into her hair, his lips kissing the crook of her neck, as her hard nipples raked across his chest.
“I want you on top. I want to watch you ride my cock and come undone,” he whispered.
Kiki had no response to his request, except to follow it. She’d never done that position before, and it sounded hot. Not the position, but Wade’s request. He wanted her, he wanted to see her, he needed it.
She slipped off his lap, and with his eyes glued to her body, she shimmied out of her panties. She leaned into the palm of Wade’s hand that had reached out to cradle her face. Her heart raced at the beautiful touch, but her breath hitched when his hand moved down her body, his fingers grazing the inside of her breast, moving over her belly button before stopping on her bare pussy. His warm hand cupped her core, delicately massaging it, teasing the crease of the lips as they wettened. Kiki gasped for air at the need that ran through her body leaving goose bumps on her skin.
Kiki took a step back, breaking the connection. She was desperate to get back to the action, but there was something very important she needed. When she turned back around from getting a condom out of the drawer Wade had seemed to make himself comfortable; fully undressed, lying in the center of the bed.
She smiled at the sight of his strong body and throbbing erection ready for the taking. “Is this the part where I’m supposed to seduce you?”
“You can do whatever you want to me, baby. I’m yours,” Wade said with a cocky grin as he folded his arms behind his head.
What did she want to do with him? Since their last encounter, she’d had some ideas, but until this very moment she wasn’t sure if she was brave enough to act them out. Clenching the condom in her hand, she crawled up onto the bed. When Wade went to reach for her she playfully pushed him back, keeping him flat on his back. She eyed his impressive erection and wondered…
Kiki ran her nails up and down his thigh, each time getting closer to his cock. She’d held it in her hands before, had the powerful member buried inside of her, but now she wanted to taste it. Biting down on her bottom lip, she tried to hide the sly smile as she looked at Wade; she wanted to watch his reaction. The uncertainty on his face was a nice change. For once she had him guessing what was going to happen next.
Turning slightly, she leaned down and licked from the base to the tip of his stiff cock. She was rewarded when a shudder quaked through his body. Liking the reaction, she repeated the action, slowly this time. Wade’s panting was loud, and his gaze was glued to her. She had total control over him, and it was amazing.
Kiki moved so that she was settled between his legs, her eyes meeting his, which were wide with anticipation. She bent down, taking the smooth, hard member in her mouth, then paused for a second, giving herself time to adjust to his size.
“What the fuck!” Wade said, almost coming off the bed.
When Kiki found her rhythm, Wade’s hands found her shoulders, caressing them as she bobbed on his cock.
“You’re so beautiful. Oh God, Kiki, that feels amazing. Thank you. Oh fuck,” Wade rambled.
When she felt Wade’s hand searching for hers she pulled back and sat up.
“We need that condom now.” Wade spoke low with a rough tone.
Kiki handed it to him, and as he sheathed himself, she crawled on top of him. Wade held her hips and helped her center. She slowly slid down his covered member, taking it inch by inch as he stretched her, not painful, but erotic, filling—nothing went untouched. Kiki tipped back her head as a loud feral moan escaped.
Wade pulled himself up, arms wrapped around Kiki’s as their bodies stayed connected at the hips. “Look at me,” he demanded with a husky voice.
Kiki obeyed, and Wade’s hands moved down to her hips. She was grateful for the guiding, teaching touch showing her how to move up and down on his cock. They settled into a smooth rhythm. The only sound in the room was their matching panting as their bodies molded together. The way his cock hit her insides with each thrust was perfect, hitting that mysterious, magic spot that women dreamed about.
Wade’s hands reached around her back, holding her shoulders, pulling her down as he rocked up into her. The strong drive penetrating into her sensitive pussy was too much. Licking her lips, she caught her bottom lip between her teeth, trying to hold on to the unbelievable pleasure, wanting it to last forever.
Holding Wade’s luscious gaze, she knew he was on the edge, and her will to hold on was gone. Pushing down hard, she ground her throbbing clit against him, taking in as much of him as she could, her insides squeezing the powerful member as she came undone. The immense pleasure left her speechless as a deep moan cried out from the pit of her being. The moans that bellowed out of Wade only increased the aftershocks of her orgasm as they came together as one.
Wade held her, his body quivering from his own orgasm, before he fell back on the pillow, taking her with him. Laying on top of Wade, she tried to catch her breath, her mouth slack and body relaxed, relishing in the blissful afterglow of the love they’d made. His hands ran soothing circles on her back as they rested in comfortable silence.
A tear started in the corner of her eye, but she willed it back, overwhelmed with emotion. She had wholly fallen in love with this remarkable man, and while she wanted to say it, she didn’t want to scare him away. But the love they’d made tonight was just that, love, and she knew he had to have felt it too. They connected on a deeper level, taken to a place that Kiki had never gone, and it wasn’t just the incredible orgasm that made her feel that way.

Wade sat on the couch, his arm wrapped around Kiki, as the gentle noise from the TV filled the comfortable silence. Their time in the bedroom had been hot, on a deeper level than he had ever experienced. He’d never remembered feeling so satisfied. And the post-cuddling on the couch had been his idea. Having her enfolded in his arms felt right, in a way he hadn’t felt in years. Wade kissed the top of her head, overcome with emotion.
Kiki looked up at him, her kind almond eyes full of love, and there was a part of him that had a thought; that ‘L’ word swimming around deep in his soul somewhere. Something he hadn’t felt for a woman since the sinful Jessica who used to be his everything. He’d regretted making a woman the center of his world, but he was doing it again, and it didn’t feel wrong.
“What are you thinkin
g about?” Kiki’s sweet voice asked.
“Lots of things.” Wade shrugged. “Mostly us.”
“Good things I hope.”
“I’m pretty lucky to have you, Kiki.” Wade was surprised at how easily the affection rolled off his tongue.
Kiki’s mouth pressed into a hard line, and he could see the wheels in her head turn. He couldn’t have read the signs wrong.
“It’s your turn to tell me what’s going on in that head of yours,” he probed.
“I love how things are going with us, and I hate to bring this up, but it’s been eating at me. And we promised to be honest with each other…” She trailed off.
“Okay.” Wade straightened up on the sofa, letting Kiki do the same.
Sitting facing each other, Kiki toyed with her hands. Wade couldn’t fathom what this was about. Joshua maybe? He’d apologized for that, more than once, he thought. Them working at the gym? The suspense was killing him. He knew she wasn’t going to break-up with him, because she’d denied him earlier in the day, so that was reassuring.
“It’s just that with as much as we share, I wish you’d let me in more. You refuse to talk about Jessica, and the only reason I even want to talk about her is because it seemed to be a horrible break-up and here she is back in your life and I know nothing.” Kiki paused.
Wade stared open-mouthed at the woman sitting in front of him. Obviously, this had been eating at her, but he didn’t want to talk about his ex-girlfriend. He was irritated with her inquiry; it shouldn’t matter to her.
“That’s not all… Whenever I ask about your parents you shut down. I can’t imagine reliving it, but give me something. It’s such a big piece of your life, of who you are, that I just think it’s something you should be able to talk to me about.” Kiki’s words might have been soft, but they felt like an attack.
“It isn’t something I want to relive. Why does everyone want to fucking talk about it? I’m just not good enough how I am? You want to break me down piece by piece. What was that shit about just living in the now?”
